As an adjective,
the word “halcyon” (hal-see-un) means quiet, happy, or tranquil. As a
noun from Greek mythology, it identifies the kingfisher - a crested
bird living along the
Bear River in summer. Kingfisher Bend Ranch, or KBR, was constructed in
2001. It is named for both the presence of these unique birds and
because of its unusually tranquil environment. The Ranch has been
created to provide guests the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful,
beautiful, rather remarkable place away from the hustle of life.
Kingfisher Bend
Ranch is ideal for couples, families, retreats, training events and
seminars. A wonderful couple, Ned and Rosalie Silvester, manage
the Ranch.
KBR features
three guest units -
a main lodge (beds for 12), and two pond cabins (each with beds for
four) (See Cabin Rentals). Each unit
is well
equipped and tastefully
decorated, so you can enjoy nature in a rustic setting without
sacrificing comfort.
There are many
wonderful activities available at the Ranch depending on the season.
Fair weather activities include guided horseback riding (free to guests), hiking, river
and pond fishing,
campfires, boating, swimming and exploring. The Ranch also
has a basketball/pickleball court, a sand
volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and a Frisbee golf course. Winter
activities include guided snowmobile rides, cross country skiing and
snowshoeing (See Activities for a more
detailed list). In addition, there is much to do in the nearby Uinta Mountains in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest; Park City, Utah; and Evanston, Wyoming.
Livestock at the Ranch includes our small "fold" (herd) of photogenic, long-haired, long-horned, Scottish Highland cattle, our saddle horses, and the more normal Red Angus and Black Angus.
Once you’ve
experienced Kingfisher Bend Ranch, you are certain to be a life-long
fan. KBR has become an annual pilgrimage for many. We would love to
have you become part of the KBR family. Contact us soon at (307)
